I’m excited to help spread the word that The Blender Girl’s new smoothie app is now available on iTunes for $4.99 with 100 amazing new recipes not available anywhere else (75 to begin, with a new recipe added each week). It’s like a completely new cookbook for only $4.99. The app helps you choose smoothies for your mood, ingredients you have on hand, and even creates a shopping list for you. Like her gorgeous cookbook, the app features beautiful photography, detailed information about ingredients, and health attributes for each. You’ll find metric/Imperial conversions, and full information if you have dietary restrictions. My only note is that most recipes are not suitable for the migraine diet, as they include trigger foods like dates, avocados, bananas, nuts, and citrus. The recipes are great for low-sodium, gluten-free, vegan, and detox diets.
I happened to see Tess Masters while she was working on the recipes for the app, so I got an inside look at her creative process and how she puts ingredients together for full tastes… not simply sweet, but hitting notes in the front, middle, and back of the palate.
I chose this recipe to share because for me it absolutely demonstrates Tess’ incredible creativity, pairing pomegranate, arugula, red pepper, and cayenne. Once I tasted it, I truly believe it’s the best smoothie I have ever had, hands down. Anyone can throw a bunch of frozen fruit in the blender with coconut milk and ice and have it taste good. These smoothies are more like meals by a highly skilled chef.
